Testimonial - Deputy Sheriff Dan

“I am a Deputy Sheriff (Northern MN) and avid bear hunter. I recently purchased a set of FireBUGS for hunting and put them in my patrol jacket with the intent of showing them to my fellow officers. That night I had a felony suspect run on foot. FireBUGS rose to the challenge! I put a green BUG where he entered the woods and followed him for over a mile. The suspect got onto a snowmobile trail where the snow was melted and the dirt was frozen. I placed a FireBUG where the tracks were lost. Our K-9 unit was called to track from there and was told to follow the trail to my marker. He thought the marker would be something like sticks or a glove on the dark trail. He was so happy when the lit FireBUG came into sight, approximately 75 yds. He stopped and asked if the FireBUG was the marker and said several times that it was so easy to find and a great tool.”

“Long story (5 mile track in knee deep snow) short we caught the suspect later that night. The K-9 officer asked how to get some of the FireBUGS as he wanted enough to hand out several to each deputy. Valuable time could be saved if the deputies marked areas/trails where he and his dog could begin following a scent trail.”
